Week 11 Recap

And as of today it’s officially taper time! 6 days until race day and it was super high on my list of priorities to nail the workouts scheduled for week 11. I was coming off of a confidence boosting 10 miler and was ready to tackle whatever my training plan was throwing at me…

Sun: Rest

Mon: Speedwork on the mill

Tue: Abs (with a hefty dose of 90s fitness perfection)

Wed:  Rest

Thu: Tempo (4 miles 2 @ 8:00 pace)

Fri: Easy (4 miles)

Sat: Race Sim (8.1 miles)

My sister and I are both training for the Earth Day Half (her second, my first). We both have aspirations of finishing sub 2:00. Although we haven’t been able to run together as much as we originally wanted to given her school and weekend work schedule, we were able to get together yesterday for the all important 8.1 at race pace (9:05) yesterday.

According to my current training bible, the idea behind the race simulator is to practice your race day fueling plan and to really tackle the prescribed distance (8.1 miles/13.1 km) as you would on race day. Not only will we be road testing our gear and tummy testing our fuel of choice, but it will ultimately be our last hard workout before race day.

Bla bla bla bla…..can we sidebar to talk about the most adorable little creature/cheerleader we found at the park??!! A-freaking-dorable!

Despite the distraction of cuteness that followed us around, we dominated our 8.1 and nailed it.

Split Time Avg Pace
